Dictionary of Czech Philosophers

The Dictionary of Czech Philosophers (Slovník českých filozofů) is a biographical and bibliographical reference work documenting the history of philosophical thought in the Czech lands. It covers not only Czech philosophers but also foreign thinkers who lived or worked in the Czech lands, with particular attention given to Slovak philosophy. In addition to professional philosophers, the dictionary includes influential figures from other disciplines, especially science, theology, and the arts, whose work contributed to the development of philosophical thought. Individual entries provide biographical information, an overview of each person's intellectual activities and philosophical contributions, bibliographies of their works, and references to relevant secondary literature. The dictionary also features autobiographical entries in which selected philosophers present their own philosophical perspectives and principal areas of interest. The dictionary, originally published in print in 1998 and subsequently made available online, has been partially updated and corrected for the current electronic version. It serves as a reference resource for research into the history of Czech and Slovak philosophy and its broader cultural and intellectual contexts.
